InterServer Specs (2026): $3 Is 1 Core, $6 Is Still 1 Core, and There Is No Money-Back Guarantee

On October 4, 2026 the VPS page prints 1 slice at $3/mo with 1 core, and 2 slices at $6/mo with 1 core. The same page says "There is no trial period or money-back guarantee on VPS hosting." Read the core count on the card you are about to buy.

Short answer

  • 1 slice: $3/mo, 1 core, 2 GB memory, 40 GB SSD, 2 TB transfer, 10Gbps Shared port. USD per month, as printed.
  • 2 slices: $6/mo, still 1 core, 4 GB, 80 GB SSD, 4 TB. Among the 1-slice, 2-slice, and 3-slice cards, the 3-slice card at $9/mo is the one that prints 2 cores.
  • Through 8 slices: each added slice is another $3, 2 GB, 40 GB, and 2 TB. 8 slices are $24/mo. 8 × $3 = $24, labelled arithmetic. 7 slices are $21/mo.
  • No guarantee, VPS page: "There is no trial period or money-back guarantee on VPS hosting." Cancel, on that page, is "at any time from your account."
  • No guarantee, FAQ page: "We do not offer a trial period or money back guarantee on VPS hosting." That sentence ends at "cancel at any time."
  • Prepay: the VPS page says "there is no quarterly or yearly discount." The FAQ says "Prepaying does not provide a monthly fee discount." "During sign-up, monthly payment is available."
  • Before you pay: read the core count on the card, then read both no-guarantee sentences. Managed support is included from 8 slices. A separate Windows card prints "from $10/mo".

Prices and the sentences below are from InterServer's VPS page and VPS FAQ, read on October 4, 2026.

Plain official links, not an affiliate hop.

An earlier version of this URL reported a CPU score of 3,800, a disk read of 40K IOPS, and 900 Mbps. Those figures have been removed. The card in their place is 1 slice at $3/mo: 1 core, 2 GB memory, 40 GB SSD, 2 TB transfer, and a 10Gbps Shared port.

1. The slice cards

The VPS page prints "10Gbps Shared port" on these cards. 1 slice is $3/mo with 2 GB, 40 GB SSD, and 2 TB. 2 slices are $6/mo with 4 GB, 80 GB SSD, and 4 TB. 3 slices are $9/mo with 6 GB, 120 GB SSD, and 6 TB. From there through 8 slices, each added slice is another $3, 2 GB, 40 GB, and 2 TB. 7 slices are $21/mo. 8 slices are $24/mo. 2 × $3 = $6, 7 × $3 = $21, and 8 × $3 = $24. Those three products match the printed prices. They are arithmetic, not a second sticker.

Read the core count on the card. The 1-slice, 2-slice, 3-slice, and 8-slice counts are in the next section. For slices 4, 5, and 6, the count to use is the one printed on that card.

2. Cores on the cards and on the FAQ

The 1-slice card prints 1 core. The 2-slice card prints 1 core at $6/mo. The 3-slice card prints 2 cores at $9/mo. Among those three cards, the $9 card is the one that prints 2 cores. The 8-slice card prints 4 cores, 16 GB, 320 GB SSD, and 16 TB at $24/mo.

The FAQ page puts host CPUs in the 2.0 to 3.0 GHz range and says "every two slices has access to one CPU core." Keep that sentence next to the cards. The 1-slice card still prints 1 core. The 3-slice card still prints 2 cores.

3. The VPS page on trials and money-back

The VPS page says "There is no trial period or money-back guarantee on VPS hosting. Cloud VPS is billed month to month, and you can cancel at any time from your account."

4. The FAQ page on trials and money back

The FAQ page says "We do not offer a trial period or money back guarantee on VPS hosting. Billing is month to month, and if you are ever unsatisfied with the service you can cancel at any time." That sentence does not say "from your account." The hyphen in "money-back" is the VPS page's. This sentence writes "money back".

5. Monthly billing on the VPS page

The VPS page says "Cloud VPS is billed monthly. You can prepay credit to your InterServer account if you want future invoices covered automatically, but there is no quarterly or yearly discount."

6. Sign-up and prepay on the FAQ

The FAQ page says "During sign-up, monthly payment is available" and "Prepaying does not provide a monthly fee discount." Those clauses stay on the FAQ. They are not a rewrite of the VPS page's quarterly and yearly sentence.

7. NYC, Dallas, or Los Angeles

The VPS page says "Deploy in NYC, Dallas, or Los Angeles."

8. SSD and Raid-10

The VPS page says "High-performance SSD storage and Raid-10 arrays help provide speed, data consistency, and redundancy for critical workloads." The port label on the cards remains "10Gbps Shared port".

9. Webuzo, DirectAdmin, cPanel, Plesk

The VPS page says "Use Webuzo, DirectAdmin, cPanel, or Plesk when you want a panel instead of command-line-only administration."

The FAQ panel answer names cPanel and DirectAdmin, and says a Windows VPS does not include a control panel. A cPanel dollar amount is not on either of those answers (October 4, 2026).

10. Two support sentences

The VPS page says "Managed support is included on VPS plans with 8 slices or more." That is the $24/mo card. The 7-slice card is $21/mo and sits under that line. 7 × $3 = $21, arithmetic on the same $3 step.

The FAQ describes a second scope. It calls the VPS managed, and limits that management to what InterServer installs. With no control panel, the scope is the operating system. With a control panel, the scope is the software the panel installed. Third-party programs the customer installs are outside that scope.

11. Windows from $10/mo

A product card on the VPS page prints Windows "from $10/mo". The slice table above has no Windows row. The $10 figure stays that sticker. It is not split into a core count, a memory size, a disk size, or a transfer amount.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is on the $3 card?

1 slice is $3/mo, 1 core, 2 GB memory, 40 GB SSD, 2 TB transfer, and a 10Gbps Shared port. USD per month, as printed on the VPS page on October 4, 2026. 2 slices are $6/mo and that card still prints 1 core, with 4 GB, 80 GB SSD, and 4 TB. 3 slices are $9/mo and that card prints 2 cores.

Does 2 slices mean 2 cores?

No. Among the 1-slice, 2-slice, and 3-slice cards, the $6 card prints 1 core and the $9 card prints 2 cores. The FAQ page also says every two slices has access to one CPU core, and it puts host CPUs in the 2.0 to 3.0 GHz range. Keep the card number. Do not relabel the 1-slice card as half a core, and do not recalculate the 3-slice card from that sentence. The 8-slice card prints 4 cores at $24/mo. For slices 4, 5, and 6, read the core count on the card.

Is the first month refundable?

Read two sentences, from two pages. The VPS page says "There is no trial period or money-back guarantee on VPS hosting. Cloud VPS is billed month to month, and you can cancel at any time from your account." The FAQ page says "We do not offer a trial period or money back guarantee on VPS hosting. Billing is month to month, and if you are ever unsatisfied with the service you can cancel at any time." The second sentence ends at "at any time."

Can I pay yearly for a lower monthly rate?

The VPS page says "Cloud VPS is billed monthly. You can prepay credit to your InterServer account if you want future invoices covered automatically, but there is no quarterly or yearly discount." The FAQ page says "During sign-up, monthly payment is available" and "Prepaying does not provide a monthly fee discount." 8 times $3 is $24, which matches the printed 8-slice price. That product is arithmetic.

Where does the page say I can deploy, and is the port dedicated?

The VPS page says: Deploy in NYC, Dallas, or Los Angeles. The slice cards say 10Gbps Shared port. The storage section says high-performance SSD storage and Raid-10 arrays help provide speed, data consistency, and redundancy for critical workloads.

What is included at 8 slices, and what does the FAQ call managed?

Managed support is included on VPS plans with 8 slices or more. That card is $24/mo. The 7-slice card is $21/mo and sits under that line. The FAQ describes a separate scope: what InterServer installs. With no control panel, that scope is the operating system. With a control panel, it is the software the panel installed. Third-party programs the customer installs are outside that scope.

Where is the Windows price, and which panels are named?

A product card on the VPS page prints Windows "from $10/mo". That sticker is not a row in the slice table, and it is not split into cores, memory, disk, or transfer. The VPS page says "Use Webuzo, DirectAdmin, cPanel, or Plesk when you want a panel instead of command-line-only administration." The FAQ panel answer names cPanel and DirectAdmin, and says a Windows VPS does not include a control panel. A cPanel dollar amount is not on either of those answers.
